Technical Service Centre

Pendennis Vilanova

In the latter part of 2018, Pendennis announced a majority share hold in Vilanova Grand Marina, Barcelona, with adjacent land for further development. Initial works were completed in the Autumn of 2019 resulting in a superyacht Technical Service Centre trading as Pendennis Vilanova, spanning across a 30,000sqm shipyard equipped with both a 200t and 620t travel hoist for performing repair and maintenance works.

Focused on small to medium scale refits the Pendennis Vilanova Technical Service Centre is run by a dedicated team of 25 tradespeople. The team is comprised of multi-lingual individuals from both the UK and Spain with a wide range of skills from a variety of disciplines including fabrication, electrical, engineering, joinery, paint and exterior outfit. A large proportion of the team based in Vilanova have worked for Pendennis at their home base in Falmouth, UK and bring with them many years of experience and adaptable skills acquired from working within a busy world class superyacht business. The dynamic nature of the team at Pendennis Vilanova allows for them to flex to a client’s individual project requirements.

Pendennis Vilanova and Vilanova Grand Marina work in tandem to provide a complete service for superyachts in the Mediterranean, with yachts benefitting from a secure and protected environment as well as having the option to tap into our multilingual technical support team as and when required. The partnership offers clients the ability to either self-manage or utilise the team of in-house tradespeople during their stay, with many

projects choosing a combination of the two options. The proximity of the technical service centre to the 48 berth marina allows for projects to be carried out both on the facility’s 30,000sqm of hard standing or afloat in the marina itself.

Supporting both the existing Pendennis fleet, as well as new clients seeking assistance, Vilanova has been transformed into a new destination for superyachts to conduct technical works in the Mediterranean.

Mariette’s berth in the harbour has proved to be secure and comfortable. We needed to haul her out of the water so a marina with an associated Pendennis service facility made perfect sense. Vilanova is proving to be an excellent logistical choice as we have Barcelona airport nearby, Pendennis’ expertise on hand day to day and the existing infrastructure of Palma is only a short flight away. Onshore the town is pleasant without the traffic and bother of the larger cities nearby. The crew have settled into a good routine — they have enjoyed exploring the local area and sampling the delights of the town’s variety of bars and restaurants. - Captain Charlie Wroe, SY Mariette of 1915
